2008 Interior and Environment Summary - Full

At 10:00 am the full House Appropriations Committee voted out the FY 2008 Interior Appropriations bill which includes restoration of the Urban Indian Health Line item at 34 Million. We are one step closer to full restoration in FY 2008. The appropriations bill will now be filed and then considered by the full House.

The Interior and the Environment bill provides for the environmental and conservation needs of America’s people and its natural resources. The bill also honors our obligations to Native American communities, making investments into better education and healthcare.
On Wednesday, June 6th we pulled together a small workgroup at NCUIH to strategize on our request of 40 million to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. We will work towards implementation of our plan and keep you posted on the request. NCUIH may be contacting you individually for assistance in this effort.
