PPACA and IHCIA Toolkit

On January 12, 2011, Urban Indian health Program leaders gathered in Washington, DC for a training on the landmark [Patient Protection and] Affordable Care Act (ACA) and Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA), passed together in 2009.  The session was the first collective and comprehensive training on the ACA and IHCIA to assist UIHP leaders in understanding how the specific provisions will effect their clinics, patients, and communities.  The event also marked an important partnership between the National Council of Urban Indian Health and Seattle Indian Health Board's Urban Indian Health Institute (UIHI), and was supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and Indian Health Service.

This training toolkit includes the full Training Report, a question and answer document, and the two presentations from the event.

The PPACA/IHCIA Training Report includes a full summary of the presentations and a comprehensive Q & A document that outlines some of the most important and relevant questions/answers members had or may have pertaining to provisions in the new and existing laws.  Click here to open the full training report.

The Question and Answer document is separated for anyone interested in just viewing or disseminating this part of the report.  Click here to open the Q & A document.
