Did you know that...?
American Indian and Alaska Native young people ages 15-34 make up 64 percent of all suicides in Indian country. (IHS, Trends in Indian Health, 2002-2003).
NCUIH is working on the Meth and Suicide Prevention Initiative (MSPI) to alleviate this problem. Visit our MSPI Page here
Technical Assistance - NCUIH
As the only agency exclusively devoted to Urban Indian health policy change and the further development of all Urban Indian Health Programs, it is NCUIH's role and responsibility to provide its membership with the highest quality technical assistance tailored to the specific needs and realities of our communities across the nation.Since 1998, NCUIH has provided a series of Urban Indian-specific technical assistance trainings; however, it was after the 2005 agency restructuring that the NCUIH Board of Directors decided to boost the organization's TA capabilities. The NCUIH Five Year Strategic Plan (2006-2011) provides a stable framework for NCUIH to design technical assistance programs, while the organizational Business Plan (2007-2012) provides the agency with specific guidance and time-frames on the areas to be expanded. Feedback from both the NCUIH Board of Directors and the NCUIH membership played a strong role in developing these plans.

One-on-One Support
The Technical Assistance and Research Center will also coordinate one-on-one technical assistance to UIHPs to meet their unique and specific needs. Site-specific support will follow a community-of-learning model; UIHPs who have been successful in implementing various projects and initiatives will be recruited to assist other programs. This model allows for UIHPs to receive the most applicable technical assistance from the body of knowledge that already exists. The below link will take you directly to the TARC pages at the KRC**:
